Bold is not synonymous with arrogant. Nor does bold mean the absence of fear, but it is courageous. Bold is the willingness to do what must be done – even if it is stressful, demeaning, or very difficult. To be bold is to recognize the difficulty of your defining task and to accept it as a part of yourself. Not only to accept it, but to have willingness to face the problem and to have confidence in yourself.
The bold willingly push into the darkness not knowing what may lie ahead, redefining the boundaries of logic and ability, casting new light into the furthest recesses where no one else has looked before.
They are bold because they know that they are human and imperfect, and they know that they could fail like so many others that came before them. They are bold because they know it is a risk to themselves and their future. The bold do not hide their fear like the arrogant or elevate their accomplishments above others like the narcissist. The bold have sufficient perception of the situation, and sufficient reason for fear – they do it regardless.
